Four streams, settled separately

Solder

Dross from wave and selective soldering, expired or surplus paste, bars and wire. Lead-free and tin-lead are kept apart and settled as what they are.

Non-ferrous metals

Copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel and other non-ferrous scrap, as solids, offcuts or turnings.

Specialty alloys

Tell us the alloy and the form it is in. Alloys are sorted and settled by alloy, not as mixed scrap.

Precious-metal-bearing material

Plated parts, contacts, connectors and other material that carries gold, silver, platinum or palladium. It is collected, sorted and sent to accredited refiners.

Keep it separate and it is worth more

The biggest difference to a settlement is usually made on your floor, not ours. Lead-free dross kept apart from tin-lead, alloys kept in their own bins and paste left in its jars all settle better than one mixed drum. If you are setting up collection for the first time, ask us and we will tell you how to split it.

How it works

1

Tell us what you have

The material, the form it is in and roughly how much. A photo of the bin or drum helps.

2

Pickup or ship-in

Our truck collects in Ontario and Quebec. From elsewhere in Canada you ship to Orillia.

3

Weighed and sorted

Each material is weighed under your lot number. The receiving report shows what arrived.

4

Settled in writing

The settlement report shows the weight of each material and what it settled at. Material with metal value is paid for or credited.

EDI does not refine

We collect, sort and ship. Precious-metal-bearing material goes to accredited refiners. If you are a member of the public or a jeweller selling gold or silver, our storefront EDI Refining is the right place.

Questions we get

Do you take tin-lead solder as well as lead-free?

Yes, both. Keep them apart if you can.

Which specialty alloys do you take?

Tell us the alloy and we will tell you. It is quicker than a list, because the answer depends on the alloy and the form it is in.

How is the value worked out?

By material and weight, against the market on the day. We quote before pickup and the settlement report shows each line.
